Vintage Handmade Wooden 4 x 5 Reflex Viewer

I had no idea what this was until I posted it on a facebook group and a helpful member identified it as a homemade 4 x 5 reflex viewer. The facebook member said "4 x 5 reflex viewer. When you look through a 4 x 5 camera the image image is upside down, this allows you to see it right side up."
This makes about as much sense as anything given that the piece came from the estate sale of a gentleman who formerly worked for the NBC affiliate KOB-TV.
It is made out of wood and brass with a glass (I think) prism inside. The wood shows a seriously faded "KOB-TV" logo painted in green. The wood is heavily worn from age and use. There is a brass fitting on one end that has a set screw on one side (not sure what this is for). The glass prism inside the unit does have a couple edge dings or chips, not too large in size, but noticeable.
