US ARMY Vietnam WWII Airborne Veteran 1st Special Forces Lighter Penguin Japan., belonged to Master Sgt Whitten.
The Lighter is unused, never had a flint installed. These Japanese made penguins are not the best of quality. The flip  lid action is good, though the lid will wobble a slight bit when open, small gap when closed, small scratches, not new by any means., otherwise excellent. Aslo included is one 5x7original photo of the original owner., at his desk, as MSGT.
George L Whitten Army Serial Number., 31484111. Whitten enlisted late 1945 and was with 509th Inf ABn., other research indicates he was t Ft Bragg with the 782 Ordnance in 1949., later in the 50's with the 504th Inf Abn, and then selected for 5th Group Special Forces, serving in Vietnam during the period 1965., Detachment C-1 5th SFG., also with service in 1st SFG,  He may also have been in the 502nd Inf, but not clear..
